Antimicrobial ingredients are used in cosmetic products to inhibit the growth of microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and yeast. They help protect products from spoilage and contamination and, in some cases, support skin health by reducing microbial load on the skin’s surface. Antimicrobials may act by disrupting microbial cell membranes, interfering with metabolism, or inhibiting replication.
