Cleansing agents are ingredients in cosmetic products that assist in the removal of dirt, sweat, excess oil, dead skin cells, and other impurities from the skin or hair. These ingredients may function through physical, chemical, or surfactant-based mechanisms. While “cleansing” describes a broader purpose, it often overlaps with surfactants that provide the actual cleansing action in rinse-off products.
