Viscosity-controlling agents are used to adjust the thickness or flow properties of a cosmetic formulation. These ingredients help ensure that a product spreads easily, and maintains a desirable texture. They may either increase viscosity (thickeners or gelling agents) or decrease it (thinners or solvents), depending on the formulation needs.
